Professor Tingart became Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in 2010. Prior to this, he served as a Senior Orthopaedic Surgeon and Associate Director of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Regensburg. The focal points of his medical expertise and research are total joint replacement (including computer-assisted and minimally invasive surgery), revision joint replacement, shoulder and foot surgery and orthopaedic rheumatology.

He and his team have set themselves the goal of developing existing orthopaedic techniques and establishing new and innovative technologies in collaboration with other disciplines. Their aim is progressive opening of the Orthopaedic Department and increasing cooperation with colleagues and hospitals in the region of Aachen and worldwide.
